Churchill family collection, 1815-1887.

Includes letters and other items accumulated by the Churchill family of Newington, Connecticut. Those writing include Charles Churchill, his son Solomon, Solomon's son Chester and daughter Jemina, and Chester's wife Lucretia Olmstead. The correspondence among these family members is generally from the period of time Chester was shipping goods from Hartford to the south. He and his family occasionally lived in Augusta, Georgia. There are many pieces from Chester and Lucretia's daughter Julia Churchill Watkins. Julia spent some time teaching at the Harlem Academy in New York. She died while living in Tennessee.
